Unique Names in Genealogy - Week #1

This is the first in why I hope will be a weekly series of Unique Names in Genealogy Roundup blog posts. It started on a whim after I came across several very unique names in my genealogy research. I decided to scour my sources to see what else I can find. Each day I am posting (on Facebook and Twitter) a unique name that I have discovered. Here are the gems from the first week!

“Peter Guy Porcupine”, born January 6, 1922. Here is his WWII draft registration card. As I suspected, the back indicates his race as “Indian”.

Sam Slim Jim

Lasagna Luigi Felice

Born October 18, 1901 in Montemagno, Italy. 🇮🇹 According to his Declaration of Intention form, he was a soda dispenser who arrived in the U.S. in 1923. He settled in Los Angeles, California.

Odie Gravy Rogers

Of Hayesville, North Carolina, “Gravy” was a 44 year old man when he registered for the WWII draft in 1942.

Guy V. Smiley

Originally from Red Oak, Missouri, Mr. Smiley is buried next to his wife, Louise (1907-1983) at Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica, California. (photo credit)

Wishful Lauxious Franklin

According to his WWII Draft Card, Wishful was born December 4th, 1900 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
