Pic of the Week (#135) - Strunk Artistic Photographer of Reading, PA
Every Friday The Psychogenealogist shares a "Pic of the Week." The intent is to encourage thought and imagination about the spaces where psychology, genealogy, and history converge.
I like the soulfully angular look of the woman in this late 1800s or early 1900s cabinet card photograph. There are no identifying markings so it seems near impossible to know who this woman was or what stories she had to tell.
The “Artistic Photographer” was J.D. Strunk at 730 Penn St. in Reading Pennsylvania.
I like how the back says “Instantaneous Portraits of Children a Successful Speciality”. Apparently working well with children was a selling feature.
The J.D. Strunk Studio opened in September of 1893 according to this newspaper clipping.
